Coronavirus food shortages and now drought conditions threaten our rescued donkeys!

Your URGENT help is needed to transport 100 donkeys to safety forever!

You helped us rescue hundreds of donkeys from violent deaths. Now, we’re asking you to become part of their ‘after’ story…

With your support, we managed to save these treasured animal friends from being massacred for their hides but now we face another major challenge – please consider donating to help us secure their safe future.

As the COVID-19 situation escalates, donkeys are experiencing horrendous and inexcusable suffering, violently slaughtered so their skin can be boiled down to make gelatine (known as ejiao) for phony Chinese medicine.

Around four million donkey hides (yes, FOUR MILLION!) are needed each year to produce enough ejiao for the market in China, but the annual supply of donkeys from China is fewer than 1.8 million.

To fill the gap, China is importing donkey skins from developing countries where there are populations of relatively “cheap” animals.

These intelligent and loving animals are beaten, their heads bashed, and are often conscious when their throats are slit as they are skinned!

We will NEVER stop saving these donkeys from this nightmare – our rescue efforts are made possible with your generosity.

With your help we have rescued hundreds of donkeys so far. These gentle creatures have all found a safe home at the Karoo Donkey Sanctuary, in South Africa. There, we care for over 250 donkeys and 52 horses.

The coronavirus lockdown has made it extremely challenging for our team to get much-needed food to these animals. To make matters worse, there has been very little rainfall and no grazing for our equine friends.

We have no choice but to move the donkeys to a more suitable piece of land.

The good news is that we have found the perfect place in South Africa’s Limpopo province. The Karoo Donkey Sanctuary Satellite will have plenty of natural grazing pastures so our rescued donkeys can have the space and freedom they deserve – a second chance at life. The area is also easily accessible to our team so we can visit on a regular basis and continue giving these donkeys our support.

The challenge is GETTING the donkeys there!

We need £3,000 ($3,800) to relocate our donkey friends. Please help if you can today and give generously so these donkeys can have a place where they can be safe and live out the rest of their days, surrounded by love and compassion!

When there is donkey injustice, you help rectify it. Thank you so much for all you do.

P.S. Immediate help is needed to transport these donkeys to their new home where they can flourish. All creatures deserve a life free from fear and pain. Please donate today and help NFA get these donkeys to The Karoo Donkey Sanctuary Satellite where they can live like donkeys are supposed to live. Thank you so much, again.
