A few months ago, we told you about the desperate situation on a Honduran island off the coast of Central America called Roatan…

In this tourist destination, unbeknown to visitors, street animals are routinely hacked with machetes, run over by cars and deliberately scalded with boiling water!

In this tourist destination of Honduras, street animals are routinely hacked with machetes, run over by cars and deliberately scalded with boiling water! 1 This poor dog’s leg had to be amputated, but he is making a good recovery.

It’s hard to believe but these poor creatures are the targets of callous cruelty and human sadism. Poverty, lack of education and frustration are significant contributing factors causing some local people to be cruel to animals, and we know the scale of the problem is immense.

Roatan Rescue is a haven for more than 500 animals, and it is doing its best to provide them critical and life-saving care. We MUST continue helping them – but we need your help to do so – and save lives!

On a recent campaign trip, our team saw first-hand the dreadful situation that this shelter faces every day. The shelter is over capacity and constantly receiving new rescue cases, which range from simple check-ups to severe and life-threatening injuries. Roatan is not a wealthy island, plus the lack of water and extreme temperatures make working conditions extremely challenging. We need to do everything we can to save the lives of these unwanted, abused and injured creatures.

One way we can help is by providing food to the hungry animals of Roatan Rescue, so it can focus on rescue operations, medical treatment, and hiring additional staff to help care for the animals and run the shelter.

While our team was on-site helping feed the dogs, a terrible case was brought in…

Kala, a little mixed breed dog, was savagely attacked with a machete by a cruel man intending to kill him. This man’s dog had tried to attack Kala and his family, and when Kala tried to protect his loved ones, the man brutally attacked him. So vicious was the attack that Kala’s left paw was almost completely severed – hanging by a scrap of skin. He also took a cut to his nose that would have killed him had it been a couple of inches higher. Kala was rushed into surgery and given life-saving treatment, and is recovering well. But there are so many others like him that are not so lucky in receiving swift, critical help, and we must do what we can to support them.

With your help, we have already sent funds to help ease the immense financial pressure on Roatan Rescue, but over 500 hundred animals eat a lot. Can you find it in your heart to make a recurring donation today? It will ensure that these saved animals have full bellies and a safe place to sleep until they find their loving homes.

We are halfway there – the animals have been saved.
Now we need to give them the best possible chance of survival – and to eventually be adopted into forever homes.

A single-day feeding cost is roughly $500 (£400) – and that helps fill the bellies of more than 500 animals! The more we can raise, the more days we can feed them, and the more animals can have a chance of being rehomed. Please, be as generous as you are able today.

For the animals,

Broken promises and OUTRIGHT LIES leave street dogs in PERIL! 7

P.S. Your donation will help feed the saved animals, and once these dogs (and cats) regain their strength and are successfully rehabilitated, they will be available for adoption into happy, safe homes where they’ll finally receive all the love and care that every animal deserves. Please help right away if you can!
