There is a once in a blue moon opportunity to help hungry street dogs in South Africa!

2558 dogs URGENTLY need your help, right away!
Here’s the extraordinary situation…

Here’s the extraordinary situation…

In November last year, a massive truck carrying 30 tons of top-quality dog food overturned on a road near Malmesbury in South Africa. The dog food was recovered, taken to a warehouse and properly stored - ready for delivery to vets and supermarkets. It has stayed there ever since because of an insurance dispute, and it is now approaching its sell-by date. If the food isn’t used soon, it will go to waste. Even if the insurance claim is settled soon, it will still be too late to send the food to retailers because they would not be able to sell it before it has to be discarded by law.

Because of the pending insurance claim, the dog food company can't give the food away - so it reached out to Network for Animals and offered us a giveaway price of $715 (£520) per ton. We asked animal lovers to help and the response has been wonderful - but now we have another 1,079 dogs who need help, so we are trying to buy ALL 30 tons to feed them as well. We are not there yet but if we can raise another $5,000 (£3.668), you will do it. The company has also offered free delivery.

Word spread about what we are doing and other shelters would love to give their street dogs guaranteed meals. Another 1,079 dogs waiting in line, no doubt wagging their tails and ready to lick their bowls clean. Imagine how happy 30 tons of food will make them.

The food is of top quality but because of the sell-by date rules, it must be sold immediately. The rules are strict. We must move FAST!

With your help, we can feed 2,558 hungry street dogs…
for just $13 (£9.50) each a month for THREE MONTHS!

Imagine what a boon this would be for street dogs.

In South Africa, an attempted insurrection, mass looting, COVID and a crashing economy have caused donations for animal welfare to almost dry up. The animal shelters and feeding programs we support in South Africa are all in trouble. Now there is a chance to make things better. When we started our feeding crusade, we identified that 10 tons of food would be enough to feed 1,479 dogs, who are cared for by our partners, for the next three months.

  • 300 dogs at the shelter our partner TEARS runs in Masiphumelele, Cape Town,
  • 450 dogs our partner Fur-Get-Me-Knot feeds in Westlake township,
  • 29 dogs our partner Shaygam cares for in the impoverished slum of Hangberg, and
  • 700 dogs we feed in drought-stricken Calvinia in the Northern Cape where the need is ABSOLUTELY URGENT.

Now, another 1,079 dogs are waiting in line with hopeful hearts. Animal lovers, if all goes well and we hope it will, we will be able to feed 2,558 ecstatic critters for THREE MONTHS.

Here are the others in need:

  • 100 dogs at the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha
  • 170 at the Lucky Lucy Animal Shelter, Cape Farms
  • 300 dogs at African Tails, Edgemead
  • 300 dogs cared for by HART, Helderberg
  • 209 dogs from Fallen Angels, Melkbosstrand

When we told one of our partners what we are doing, she burst into tears. Chances like this don’t come along every day, and the dogs would be so happy if we can secure as much of this food as possible.

With your help today, beaten, whipped, burned and paralyzed dogs…
will all receive square meals!

These are dogs who were born in poor areas where commonplace cruelty takes place every day. All of them have experienced horrible abuse and neglect. They have been through hell, spending their lives tick-infested, diseased and above all, hungry. We have rescued dogs tortured with acid, dragged behind cars, burned, whipped, set on fire, buried alive - beaten dogs, kicked dogs, paralyzed dogs and countless starving dogs.
