Cuba’s Animals in DESPERATE Need after Hurricane Irma

  • September 21, 2017
  • News

Three tiny puppies, (my team named them Harvey, Irma and Maria), huddled together, shivering with fear as the sea water invaded the office block in Havana where they cowered. There were no people left and the puppies had crept higher in the building to try and stay safe. Now there was nowhere left to go. Frightened and confused, I wonder if the pups knew their short time on Earth was coming to an end. It would take a miracle to save them.

Then an angel appeared, a Network for Animals angel.

Our woman in Havana, Sucel Jurado was out in the hurricane. Amid stinging downpours and wind gusts of up to 124 mph, it was hard to stand up. Absolutely everything that wasn’t cemented was being torn loose; hurling down Havana’s streets like knives and bludgeons. But someone had told Sucel they thought puppies were in the building. She was determined to save them, risking her own life. Like an angel she saved their precious little lives. Scooping them into her arms she battled the hurricane and took the pups to safety.

They needed love, warm baths and food. Thanks to Network for Animals Harvey, Irma and Maria could have all of that. This is what you donations make possible.

I must say that when the hurricane struck and we lost all contact with our team in Cuba, I feared for their lives, because I knew even though 30-foot waves flooded Havana and torrential rain lashed the streets, Sucel would be fighting to save dogs.

Thank goodness our team made it through and thank goodness Gloria, for animal lovers like you, because only with your help, can I send teams to places where disaster strikes and dogs are in distress.

Please give generously so that I can be there will the next time disaster hits no matter where it might be.
