Is the Badger Cull Coming Your Way?

  • April 5, 2017
  • United Kingdom

Do you live in one of the following counties?

[box]

Cheshire
Cornwall
Devon
Dorset
Gloucestershire
Herefordshire
Somerset
Wiltshire
Worcestershire

If the answer is yes, then David Cameron’s badger culling gunmen could be making their way to your area soon. However, you have a chance to object, and we urge you to do so by  filling out this government consultation.

This consultation is NOT  looking for your views on badger culling policy. The government is asking how you feel about the badger cull taking place in the above areas. If you live in one of them, you, your children, elderly family members, and your pets will be directly affected by the presence of gunmen day and night. If you own or run a business, then your income may well be affected by a cull happening in your area.

NFA visited the cull zones last year and witnessed first hand how badger culling can destroy good relations in towns and villages. People take sides, animosity is rife, and of course people are jumpy because there are gunmen speeding through the countryside at all hours of the day and night. As a result, police presence in your town will be stepped up during the cull, the costs of which are met by you, the tax-payer. The policing costs during the Somerset cull alone last year were over half a million pounds.

You have the right to speak out about the cull coming to your area. So make sure you do before the closing date on 16 March 2016.

As well as the safety of you, your family and pets, and the threat to your business, you may want to consider the following:

[box]

Will people still want to visit your area for countryside walks, etc if there is a cull going on?

Have you and your neighbours been properly advised and informed by the government about how this cull will affect you?

Have you been given assurances that the cull contractors disinfect their vehicles, which may be covered in infected slurry, before driving them through your town, and countryside?

Badgers are a protected species in the UK. Have  you been told how many badgers live in your area, and how many will be left once targets are met by the cull contractors?

[/box]

There are now nine counties facing a badger cull. If we don’t speak up now, it won’t be long until badger culling is happening throughout England. Don’t let Cameron and DEFRA get away with destroying our wildlife, as well as our communities.

Please fill in the consultation today, and help stop them.
