Donkeys in Tanzania dying in droves from eating plastic because of food lack.

In the rural village of Mirongoine, Tanzania, 1,500 overworked donkeys are suffering from severe malnutrition, abuse and shocking injuries. The animals desperately need your help right away.

Heavy loads tear into the donkeys’ flesh, and their owners whip and beat them mercilessly when they pause for breath.

Every week, the donkeys are overburdened with unbearably heavy loads of firewood, charcoal and other goods, then forced to walk up to 10 miles (16 kilometers) to and from a busy local market under the blazing sun.

Together, we are providing the animals with crucial shelter and water – but now, starvation is threatening to undo all our good work.

We first uncovered the plight of these donkeys in 2022, when our team found that the animals were subjected to grueling work in scorching heat without even a drop to drink.

Today, we work with our partner, the Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA), to provide the donkeys with shelter and water, offering them much-needed relief – all thanks to the generosity of animal-lovers like you.

Now, a new crisis is threatening their survival.

Starving donkeys in Tanzania are dying with stomachs full of plastic, and without our immediate help, many more will suffer and die.

It has recently come to light that despite the long distances the donkeys travel, they are forced to spend the entire day without food. In their desperation, the animals have resorted to scavenging from garbage heaps, consuming harmful plastic that blocks their digestive tracts and leads to colic, starvation and a slow, agonizing death.

Every month, up to SEVEN donkeys die from colic caused by plastic ingestion.

The situation is critical. These donkeys have no other food source and their health is rapidly deteriorating. We MUST rush emergency food and medical care before it is too late.

Our plan is simple but must be implemented straight away: Clear the plastic waste, distribute food, educate donkey owners on humane treatment and provide emergency medical care.

Our dedicated partner is ready to begin feeding the donkeys and conducting monthly mobile veterinary clinics immediately, provided we can cover the cost of food, medication and veterinary supplies.

We desperately need your help to feed and treat malnourished, sick, injured and abused donkeys in Tanzania. Please, can the animals count on you today?

For just $580 (£460), we can give all 1,500 donkeys a nutritious meal at every weekly market for an entire month, while conducting health checks and educating their owners on how to properly care for their animals. With an additional $1,000 (around £790), we can vaccinate the donkeys, deworm them, provide wound care and attend to emergency colic cases caused by plastic ingestion.

We are in a race against time to save donkeys in Mirongoine. We MUST act quickly to prevent further suffering and death.

Please donate generously today and give these beautiful, gentle donkeys the life-saving food and loving care they SO desperately deserve.
