3,000 dogs will soon go hungry unless we help

Our long-time partner, KZN Valley Dogs in South Africa, is facing a street dog crisis and thousands of dogs could go without food, care and hope – unless we act right away.

A few months ago, KZN Valley Dogs was feeding a staggering 1,500 dogs each week. Now, that number has doubled, and we are struggling to support 3,000 dogs in desperate need.

Recent heavy rains and flash flooding in rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal have displaced countless dogs. Our partner, already stretched to its limits before this crisis, now has 3,000 dogs relying on them for help, and they do not have the resources to cope.

Over the past decade, we have helped KZN Valley Dogs feed and care for starving, sick and neglected animals in some of the poorest communities of the Valley of a Thousand Hills in KwaZulu-Natal. In all of that time, the dedicated team has not missed a single weekly feeding mission, and thousands of dogs have been pulled back from the brink of death.

But now, all of our life-saving work for these animals is at risk.

These dogs rely entirely on our team and animal-lovers like you to survive.

Each dog we help is a living, sensitive animal who deserves a chance at a better life.

Dogs like Star are living proof of the good we do in shockingly poor rural areas like this. . Star was found pregnant and starved to the brink of death – but thanks to our team, she was rescued and nursed back to health, and later gave birth to 16 puppies – all of whom are now in loving forever homes.

But other dogs like Star might not have the same chance without your help today.

Our partner’s vet bill is so high that they are forced to treat only the most extreme cases. Now, with an extra 1,500 hungry mouths to feed, food is running out – and soon, many dogs may go unfed.

We plan to take action to help these dogs before it is too late.

But we can’t do it without you.

With your support, we will stop the suffering at its source by launching ongoing, large-scale emergency trap-neuter-return (TNR) campaigns, aiming to sterilize at least 200 dogs each time. This is the only way to help curb the exploding dog population in the area and prevent more puppies from being born into lives of poverty and pain.

It costs some $56 (£42) to sterilize one dog – a small price to stop the cycle of suffering. The more you give, the more dogs we can help.

Every new puppy born means more pain, more empty food bowls and more animals we may not be able to save.

P.S. Our partner in South Africa is drowning in suffering animals. The number of dogs they feed has doubled, and without help, their life-saving work could end. Please help us launch an emergency sterilization program before it is too late.
