Recently, we told you about the horrific situation in Albania, which is truly a terrible place for dogs – especially for those eking out a meager existence on the streets. Seen as little more than ‘filthy pests’ who deserve to be exterminated, dogs routinely face poisoning, torture and horrific deaths.
For street dogs in Albania, almost nowhere is safe.
Death looms around every corner. Citizens put poison pellets where street animals feed; the state rounds up strays and kills them en masse; injured dogs are left to suffer and die on the streets.
We now have a wonderful opportunity to relocate two lucky dogs to loving new homes – we just need one final push to get us to our goal.
Will you help give these two rescued dogs, who have suffered so much, a second chance?
Our partner, Dandi Animal Rescue Mission (DARM), is one of the few organizations on the ground rescuing animals in Albania. The dedicated team fights to save as many of these vulnerable animals as it can. It provides 35 dogs with humane shelter and care, and helps 150 cats and dogs with food and medicine every month.
In Albania, adoptions are almost non-existent, which means the dogs have little choice but to be cared for as best as possible by DARM’s small but committed team.
Our partner is working to get as many adopted as possible, trying to find homes for them in other countries. For a few extremely lucky dogs, forever homes are waiting for them – but they need our help to get there.
Loving families in Brussels and France are waiting to adopt two of DARM’s rescue dogs. We can get them there – but we need your help.
When the team found Kita four years ago, she had been hit by a car and left for dead. The accident left the poor dog with a broken pelvis and tail, unable to move. After two months of intensive care and three years of healing, Kita made a complete recovery. A kind-hearted family in Belgium has offered to adopt her, if we can cover the cost of transportation.
Another dog, called Mimi, was found living in the ruins of an old house, struggling to survive with two broken legs, an injury most likely caused by being hit by a car. Four operations later, she still has a severe limp, and needs specialized veterinary care that is not available in Albania. Mimi has a forever home waiting for her in France, and her new owners will see she gets the treatment she needs. All we have to do is get her there.
Your generosity can give these traumatized dogs a second chance at the life they deserve. Can Mimi and Kita count on your support today?
If we can raise just $2,000 (around £1,540), we can cover the costs of Mimi and Kita’s transport to their forever homes, where their new parents can give them all the love and care they deserve. Any additional funds raised will be used to fund further rescue operations and ongoing food and medical care for the animals at our partner shelter.
We must not let this opportunity pass us by. Please help us give these sweet girls a new lease on life by donating generously today!
From the animals,
P.S. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for two innocent, abused dogs. Thank you for your unwavering support!
