Grateful for friends like YOU! Part 3: “Paw-less” kitty and the hope YOU gave her!

With just a little more than a week now until Giving Tuesday, we’re continuing our 5-part email series that gives thanks to YOU for being a friend to NFA and the animals - by sharing a special rescue story that could not have happened without ongoing support like yours.

This week’s story, shows the power of your generosity in saving battered souls like Melina, the poor kitty who was burned nearly “paw-less”...

The fires that broke out just this past summer in Athens, Greece, were among the worst the ancient city has ever experienced.

In what can only be described as an inferno, towering walls of flames were driven by hot, fierce winds that left searing, smoldering earth in their wake.

With nowhere safe to take shelter, little Melina the street cat had to run over the burning ground, no matter how painful it was.

The result of her terrifying life-or-death race was that Melina’s sensitive paws were burned almost completely off!

We can’t image the horrendous pain she endured! The veterinary clinic where she was taken told us they could save her life, but she might never walk again.

Thanks to your kind and generous support, Melina’s story isn’t over!

That's because together, we achieve so much!

Today, despite her horrific injuries, there’s a chance Melina might walk again! She cries out when her wounds are treated but seems so thrilled to be alive, wanting only affection and love.

Time and time again, steadfast friends of NFA like you have rallied for the animals. After typhoons and hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires, floods and through COVID.

There is no way we can ever thank you enough.
