This week Network for Animals partially funded a giant screen display in Ottawa to coincide with the Canada-European Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) talks. The talks were aimed at progressing a free trade deal between Canada and the EU.

The screen, featuring images captured during the seal hunt, was designed to highlight Canada's formal dispute at the World Trade Organization as a result of the recent EU ban on seal product trade.  After decades of hard work on the seal hunt, NFA is committed to ensuring the EU trade ban remains in place and remains a strong example of progressive animal welfare policy.

The stunt garnered a lot of attention from people attending the talks, but the most gratifying outcome was that the Canadian Minister of Trade requested a meeting a day later, demonstrating that our message reached the highest levels of the Canadian government.
