Brave, disabled Skippy urgently needs a doggy wheelchair.
This joyful two-year-old greyhound mix has only his back legs fully functioning. Yet every morning, he wakes eager to greet his friends, visit the dogs in the rehabilitation kennels and explore the rolling lawns of our partner, Rural Animal Care (RAC), in Harare, Zimbabwe.
Skippy desperately wants to run and play. But his disabled body simply cannot keep up with his unstoppable spirit.

Skippy was hit by a car when he was just a puppy.
The collision catastrophically injured both his front legs. His right leg was so badly damaged that veterinarians had no choice but to amputate it. His remaining front leg was broken and placed in a cast while his rescuers fought to save it.
Throughout weeks of treatment and recovery, Skippy never gave up.
Our partner showered him with love and attention, helping him regain his strength. Everyone desperately hoped his remaining front leg would recover.
But when the cast was finally removed, the news was heartbreaking. The accident had caused severe nerve damage. Skippy would never regain normal use of his remaining front leg.

For many dogs, this might have been considered a hopeless situation.
Not for Skippy. He adapted. He learned to get around as best he could. Most importantly, he remained the same happy, affectionate dog who loves people, other animals and life itself.
But courage alone cannot overcome Skippy’s physical limitations.
Every movement demands enormous effort. He watches the other dogs race across the grass and tries his best to join them, but he can go only so far. As time passes, moving this way risks placing increasing strain on the parts of his body that still support him.
Skippy urgently needs a specially designed doggy wheelchair.
The wheelchair will support his disabled body and help him move more comfortably, safely and independently. It will allow him to explore, play with his friends and experience the simple joy of moving freely.
For Skippy, this wheelchair is not a luxury – it is his chance of freedom.
