England is a nation of dog lovers but when a dog is out of time, out of options and facing death in seven days or less, Doris Banham Dog Rescue is often the only hope left.
These are dogs who have suffered vicious, brutal and sickening cruelty, dogs who humans treated so badly that authorities had decided the only solution was to kill them. In England, they can legally do this after holding a dog for seven days.

Sometimes the call comes late at night. Sometimes it means travelling the length or breadth of the country in a race to get to a dog before a killer needle does. Sometimes it involves a frightened dog in a pound, a police kennel, a veterinary clinic or chained on a street.

LADY DI
Lady Di was only 18 months old, but she had already been forced to have three litters of puppies. When she was no longer useful, she was tied to a lamppost and abandoned.
She was so traumatised that nobody could get near her. Not even skilled rescuers could approach.
So they called our partner.
The team took Lady Di in and gave her something she had probably never known before: patience, safety and kindness.

BEAR
Bear was almost blind because he had been badly abused when police found him in a drug house.
To survive, he needed expensive surgery and specialised care. Other organisations would not take him because of the cost, but our partner stepped in.

When he was taken to a local pound, Joshie was starving and terrified. He was so thin rescuers could barely identify his breed. He was in such bad shape that no one was even interested in trying to save him.
