UPDATE: Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of animal-lovers like you, we were able to rush emergency funds to our partner, Nowzad, to kickstart construction on a new sanctuary and hospital for over 100 rescued animals in Kabul, Afghanistan.
BUT! We are still short of our goal – and time is running out.
This is your LAST CHANCE to help us save Afghanistan’s oldest animal shelter – and the animals who desperately depend on it.
Demolition crews are currently destroying the only safe sanctuary that more than 100 dogs, cats, donkeys and horses have ever known. We must get their new shelter and hospital ready before their home is completely reduced to rubble!
The good news is that construction has begun and the animals are being moved into temporary shelters; the bad news is that we are far from finished, and the clock is ticking. Today, we need your ongoing support to complete critically needed stables, kennels and veterinary wards as soon as possible, restoring hope for animals who have nowhere else to go.

For 18 years, Nowzad has been a lifeline for animals in Afghanistan, providing safe shelter for hundreds and delivering critical care to thousands more through turbulent times of war and Taliban rule. Donkeys, horses, dogs and cats – all rescued from unimaginable abuse and neglect – finally found hope and healing under Nowzad’s care.
But now, everything is at risk as the authorities tear down the animal shelter to make way for roads and high-rise office buildings.
The bulldozers are already destroying the shelter, and soon, it will be completely demolished.
We must continue to rebuild the sanctuary so we can save the animals before it’s too late.

Without immediate action, Afghanistan will lose one of its only animal sanctuaries and hospitals, leaving countless animals with nowhere to turn.
Friend, this crisis threatens the lives of 15 permanent donkey and horse residents, and 97 rescue cats and dogs currently recovering at the hospital.
We need your help to ensure Nowzad can continue its life-saving work for animals in Afghanistan.

Without this shelter, so many animals will have no-one to turn to – animals like Babri, an elderly dog once condemned to a brutal life of dog-fighting; Maqbola, a donkey whose leg was shattered after being hit by a car; Tallulah, a foal abandoned by her owner for being ‘too ugly’ after an attack tore off both her ears.
Friend, you have already helped us come so far for the animals. Please give as generously as you possibly can today to help us finish rebuilding the sanctuary and save the animals, before it’s too late.
