A deadly cat flu outbreak is sweeping through Lamu, Kenya, and the cats we have worked tirelessly to protect over the past four years are in immediate danger.
We must immediately sterilize and vaccinate as many cats as possible before it’s too late!
An estimated 10,000 street cats live across Kenya’s Lamu Archipelago. We know firsthand their daily fight for survival – sick cats with faces disfigured by cancerous growths, eyes swollen shut and filled with pus from cat flu. Injured cats limping after motorbike collisions. Hungry cats scavenging for scraps from open sewers and rubbish.

As cat lovers, we know you agree that no feline deserves to live a life plagued by hunger, sickness and suffering. And that’s exactly why, with help from supporters like you, we have been working to change their fate over the past four years.
With our compassionate supporters on our side, we have made a life-changing difference for thousands of the region’s cats…
…but now, with cat flu threatening to undo all our good work, we must do more.
Since 2021, we have sterilized and vaccinated 3,528 cats across Lamu and Pate Islands, together with our local partners, Ian Kiringa and the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association (KESCAVA).

Our goal is to sterilize 7,000 cats, which means that some 70% of the cats across the islands will live happier, healthier lives – and fewer unwanted kittens will be born on the streets.
We are already halfway there, but now, a major disease outbreak puts all the cats’ lives at risk.
Cat flu is highly contagious. Vaccination will stop the spread, while sterilization keeps the population – and the suffering – under control.
We must send our vet team back to Lamu to save lives immediately, stop the spread of cat flu, and keep working towards our goal of 70% sterilization coverage. Funding has run out, and we cannot return to Lamu until we raise the funds needed to continue sterilizing and vaccinating the cats who so desperately need us.
Every $20 (£15) you give will help us vaccinate and sterilize a street cat in Lamu, protecting them from sickness, suffering and death.

Please, don’t let these cats be forgotten. They are counting on the kindness of cat lovers like you today. Please give as generously as you can to help us save them.
