From deadly heat threatening donkeys in Tanzania to destructive typhoons displacing cats and dogs in the Philippines, November showed us just how many animals are in trouble all around the world. And thanks to our supporters, we were able to give hundreds of dogs, cats, donkeys and horses the support they needed.

Arusha, Tanzania
Providing shade and water for 300 donkeys before deadly summer heat hits
Every week, 300 donkeys make the arduous journey to the Lengijave market in Arusha, Tanzania. When they arrive, overloaded and exhausted, the animals are given no shade, no water and no relief. With summer just weeks away, the heat is about to turn deadly for the donkeys.
Thanks to our supporters’ generosity and with special thanks to a major donor who helped us reach our goal, we have raised enough to build two shaded areas, install water troughs and purchase a 1,320-gallon (5,000-liter) water tank. Soon, the donkeys will have round-the-clock access to shade and fresh, cool water. Stay tuned for more updates!

Rushing emergency aid to animals amid deadly typhoons
In early November, two typhoons struck the Philippines just days apart, leaving countless animals abandoned, injured, stranded and struggling to survive.
With help from our donors, we provided emergency relief funding to our partner on the ground, the Philippines Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), empowering the team to rescue, feed, treat and shelter animals displaced and in crisis in the wake of these devastating storms.

Repairing and building new kennels for dogs at the country’s only no-kill shelter
Our partner shelter, OAZA, in Belgrade, Serbia, is the only no-kill shelter in the country and currently cares for more than 400 dogs rescued from horrific abuse and abandonment. But recently, it ran out of space. With more terrified and injured dogs arriving every day, the team was on the verge of having to turn animals away.
Thanks to our supporters’ compassion, we are repairing existing kennels and building new ones, ensuring OAZA never has to refuse a desperate dog in need. Thank you for being the difference between safety and suffering for Serbia’s vulnerable animals.

Protecting ponies from deadly disease before it strikes
Our partner, HUGS, cares for wild ponies who roam the Bodmin Moor in England. In 2022, the team faced a frightening crisis when a deadly disease called ‘strangles’ – which causes breathing problems, fever and nasal discharge – swept through the herd.
Treating the outbreak came at a very high veterinary cost, but today, a new vaccine offers vital protection against the disease.
With support from our donors, we raised enough to vaccinate every pony in our partner’s care, preventing suffering before it could begin.

Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
Ensuring a vital last-chance shelter can continue saving dogs from death
Doris Banham Dog Rescue (DBDR) is the last hope for dogs facing euthanasia. The shelter specializes in helping deeply traumatized dogs, giving them the time, training and kindness they need to find loving homes. Â For the first time in its history, DBDR was struggling to pay its bills.
Thanks to our supporters’ compassion, we helped settle unpaid bills and build additional kennels, ensuring this vital shelter can keep giving dogs the second chance they deserve.
