Millions of football fans are looking forward to the 2026 FIFA World Cup which takes place in the USA, Canada and Mexico this year and the 2030 Cup that follows in Morocco, Spain and Portugal. What the fans don’t know is that the Moroccan authorities are already preparing for the event by brutally killing the country’s street dogs so that tourists are not upset by seeing them. You deserve to know about this so you can help us bring it to an end.
Street dogs are being hunted down and killed in Morocco to “clean up” the streets for tourists.

In cities that are already hosting warm-up matches and events in the run-up to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, government-backed teams are rounding up and slaughtering gentle, trusting animals who pose no threat whatsoever.Â
Dogs are being shot, poisoned and beaten to death in full public view – often in front of children and horrified residents. Others are forcibly captured, thrown into trucks and taken to government-run facilities that claim to provide “humane” care. The reality is that these centers operate with no transparency and most dogs are never seen again. We can only imagine the horrors taking place inside – behind closed doors.
Despite growing international concern and condemnation, the killing continues.
Local activists, animal welfare groups and citizens are risking harassment and intimidation to speak out and stop the bloodshed. FIFA remains silent and has yet to take decisive action to hold Morocco accountable despite its stated commitment to animal welfare and children’s rights. Exposing children to violence against animals in this way is in direct contravention of Morocco’s obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and is known to cause serious psychological harm.
We must act now to end this cruel, gruesome massacre of Morocco’s helpless dogs.
Network for Animals is part of the International Animal Coalition (IAWPC), a global alliance campaigning to end the killing of Morocco’s street dogs. We also work with two trusted local partners on the ground who rescue injured and at-risk dogs and run vital trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) programs in areas where it is safe to operate. For their protection, we cannot mention their names.Â

We need your urgent help to make a difference.
Your donation today can help us:Â
- Rescue wounded and at-risk street dogs
- Provide food, medical care and safe shelter for rescued street dogs
- Support legal action to challenge the killings
- Campaign for stronger animal welfare laws
- Expand humane TNVR programs
- Help expose the truth and build international pressure at the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Time is running out — and the dogs cannot wait.
Your support can save lives right now. Every donation helps rescue dogs from danger, helps us challenge cruelty in the courts and drives lasting change for Morocco’s animals.Â
No football fan would approve of killing dogs in front of children for the sake of a game. Please help the street dogs of Morocco now, otherwise the next four years will be a bloodbath for animals carried out in the name of “the beautiful game”.
Please donate generously today and help us stop this killing — for the dogs and for a future free from cruelty.
