It was in the desert, south of Beersheba, where Israeli soldiers heard the blood-curdling cries of a creature in terrible pain. They rushed to find out what was happening and found a sickening sight…

Five Bedouin children had bound a baby donkey with rope and dragged her through jagged gravel, causing horrific wounds. The helpless baby was only a few weeks old. When the soldiers arrived, the children were laughing at the donkey’s agonizing cries.

Can you believe they actually thought it was funny?

The assault caused terrible wounds on the donkey’s neck and body. Too weak from hunger to move, all she could do was cry out in anguish.

Can you imagine the awful fear and pain this helpless baby was going through?

This baby foal’s life was spared because the soldiers saved her. They named her Natalie and called our partner, the Starting Over Sanctuary, which sent immediate help.

Natalie is suffering from multiple injuries, extreme malnutrition, and dehydration. She was so weak when she was rescued that she could not even stand. Judging from her wounds, her torturers had tormented her for a prolonged period.

We are helping to ensure that Natalie is getting the best possible care, but she is fighting for her life. But there is progress – painkillers have helped to the point that she can now stand with help, and her wounds are being washed every three hours.

She is so sweet and clever that when she wants help, she brays to attract the attention of our team who treat her.

We are doing everything we can to save Natalie’s life, but she will continue to need expensive 24-hour intensive care if she is to survive. Please help her by making an EMERGENCY DONATION TODAY – it could literally be lifesaving for poor little Natalie.

This is the second time in two months that we have rescued donkeys from unspeakable cruelty in the area. THIS MUST STOP, and we are IMMEDIATELY increasing our efforts and aid to try to end the abuse. But working in this part of the world is challenging because COVID-19 is seriously restricting our ability to move around. But rest assured we will not give up.

Your donations do make a difference, and we value your support. We know that you love animals and will always do everything in our power to help them. But we need your help. We are committed to saving Natalie’s life and to stopping the rampant cruelty towards donkeys that is taking place in the Israeli desert. Your donation will go a long way to making this happen.

PS. To the soldiers’ eternal credit, they tried to catch the children who did this to an innocent baby animal, while possibly placing their own lives in danger. We salute them, even though they were unable to apprehend the kids. What happened to Natalie is a crime, and an investigation is underway to try to track down the children’s families. Your donation will help Natalie and other donkeys in harm’s way.
