As you read this, our brave rescue team in Kharkiv is working under Russian fire, saving abandoned animals on the frontline of the Ukraine war.
Every month, our partner, Animal Rescue Kharkiv (ARK), rescues as many as 600 dogs and cats from shattered villages – war-torn landscapes where almost no-one else dares to go.
The team has come under fire and had their vehicles destroyed by missiles – but they never give up on the animals.

Equipped with bulletproof vests and helmets, these dedicated animal heroes navigate obliterated, rubble-strewn roads to reach the frontline. As bullets fly and shells explode, they pull starving dogs from collapsed houses, dig terrified animals out of the ruins, and evacuate injured cats from bomb-scarred streets.
They risk their lives every single day so these animals can have one more chance at life.

Yet while there are still countless suffering animals waiting to be saved, the cost of war-zone rescue missions is increasingly high. After almost four years of non-stop violence, getting the supplies needed to save the animals who need us most now costs around $9,000 (£6,875) each month. We are doing our best to help keep things running – but without support from animal-lovers like you, the missions will have to be scaled back, leaving animals to suffer on the frontlines.
If you donate today, your support will help cover:
- Fuel to reach animals struggling to survive in frontline zones
- Emergency veterinary care for wounded animals
- Safe shelter, food and transport
- Protective gear that keeps our rescuers alive

If we cannot fund these missions, animals will be left to face hunger, cold and constant bombardment in the middle of this long, devastating war.
Your gift today fuels the vans, pays for critical vet care, and keeps our team on the ground when almost everyone else is gone.
