We have a life-changing opportunity for three abused dogs to share with you.
In Spain, hunting season has begun – and for thousands of galgos (Spanish greyhounds), that means abandonment, torture or death. But for three lucky survivors – Neptune, Rex and Harlo – there is finally a glimmer of hope.
Rescued from a life of this torment, three Spanish hunting dogs have a chance to live in safety and comfort – but we need your help to give them this chance.
These gentle, loving dogs were saved from a system that ruthlessly abandons or kills galgos after just one hunting season – or even sooner if they fail to perform. The ‘lucky’ ones are simply abandoned to starve. The rest are killed in unimaginably brutal ways.
This horrific cruelty is driven by a twisted logic: galgos who do not kill enough animals have somehow ‘disrespected’ their owner. This so-called ‘disrespect’ is punished by inflicting a painful death – unwanted galgos are thrown down wells, hung or starved to death.
We and our partners in Spain work tirelessly to save as many galgos as possible. But rescuing the dogs from death is only the first step.
A sanctuary is waiting for Neptune, Rex and Halo in the USA – now we need your help to get them there.
With thousands of galgos bred, abused and discarded every year, there simply aren’t enough homes for them in Spain. For the animals, this means months or even years spent in a shelter; for our partner, it means paying for food, shelter and care – and no space for the dogs that are still waiting to be saved.
Neptune, Rex and Harlo have waited at the shelter for families willing to take them in, but as the months roll by, it is more and more likely that this day will never come. That’s why it’s so crucial to get them out of Spain and into the US, where they have the best possible chance of finding their loving forever homes.
