In Jordan, street dogs are regularly run down by cars and left to die on the side of the road. For some sick and heartless people, this is a ‘sport’ – they take pleasure in mowing down helpless animals and leaving them to die alone and in agony. The only ‘crime’ these poor animals have ever committed is being born homeless and unwanted in a country that cares little for animals and often actively seeks to harm them.
Tragically, as much as we wish we could, we can’t save every dog in Jordan from this awful fate, but we can save some – like Bella. But to do so, we need your help!

Bella, the tiny puppy, was just a bag of skin and bones when she was found.
Her intestines were hanging out of a wound in her abdomen as she dragged her crippled body across the ground.
After being hit by a car on a busy street in Aqaba, Bella was left to her fate on the side of the road. Despite how busy the area was – all the people, and cars flying by – no one stopped to help her at first. Bella was just a tiny little puppy struggling and alone in the dirt. Can you even begin to imagine her pain, fear and confusion?
At last, Bella was spotted by a kind-hearted person who immediately rushed her to our partner, the Al Rabee Society for Nature and Animal Protection in Aqaba. The veterinary team sprang into action. Fortunately, it wasn’t too late to save her! X-rays revealed that while Bella sadly has a broken back, her spinal cord isn’t severed. This means that even though her injuries are extensive, there is hope for this little fighter.
We can ensure Bella receives the treatment for her broken back she needs – and deserves. But we need your help. Will you show her the kind compassion she’s never experienced before?

As you can imagine – given the callous attitude of so many Jordanians to animals – animal shelters are overflowing. Al Rabee is already at capacity, full of sweet, unwanted souls, and the chances of Bella being adopted in Jordan are incredibly slim.
Her best hope for a second chance at life is if we send her to a sanctuary where she can receive rehabilitative care and, eventually, a forever home. Luckily, Rodica Toma Athamneh, Director of Al Rabee, has managed to get Bella a spot at a dog rehabilitation facility in Italy called the Casa Bau, and they have agreed to take her in and help find her a forever home. This is absolutely wonderful news and the very best possible option for Bella after being found broken and bleeding in the dirt.
Not a huge amount is required but we MUST raise $2,000 (£1,500) to get Bella to Italy where her happy, new life awaits – free of pain and suffering.

Despite her broken back, there is a chance that with the right, dedicated care – like she will receive at Casa Bau – she will regain the use of her back legs.
