Some 600 rescued cats in Kenya could soon be forced back onto harsh, unforgiving streets as the sanctuary they call home is in imminent danger of shutting down.
Without their only haven, the grim reality of hunger, disease, abuse and death awaits.
With your support, we can save the Nairobi Feline Sanctuary (NFS) and their 600 cats.

After months of severe financial turmoil, NFS reached a point where it could pay the rent or continue feeding and caring for their 600+ cats. True to their mission as animal-lovers, NFS chose to put the cats first, even though it meant falling behind on rent.
Tragically, after missing payments for several months, they were served an eviction notice, informing the sanctuary to vacate the premises by mid-February.
Thanks to our supporters’ generosity, we secured an extension from the landlord by paying outstanding rent and covering the lease until the end of March, buying us valuable time to save the sanctuary AND the cats. But once these funds run out, the team still won’t be able to cover rent and food, medicine and care for over 600 cats.
We have a sustainable, long-term solution to save the sanctuary and the cats – but we can’t make it happen without your help.
NFS has identified a property that would make an ideal permanent home for the animals, but they need our help to build up the facilities and make the move.
We have just one month to help build critical structures on the new property, providing a safe home for over 600 cats rescued from Kenya’s streets.

Without your support, the sanctuary will be forced to close, and the cats will end up back on the streets – where they face unimaginable suffering and death.
NFS is the only no-kill animal shelter dedicated to domestic cats in Kenya. Since 2020, founder Rachel Kabue has rescued hundreds of sick, injured, elderly and disabled street cats who would never have a chance of finding a loving forever home anywhere else.
In a country where few can afford to look after disabled animals, the sanctuary is a lifeline for cats in need of specialized care.
Without this sanctuary, 600+ cats have nowhere else to go.
For cats, life on the streets of Nairobi is perilously dangerous, and without this sanctuary, the cats are almost certain to meet a brutal and painful end.
Rachel and her team at NFS are doing so much for the animals with so little. They have never turned away a single cat in need, and what started as one rescued cat has grown into a haven that has saved the lives of more than 600 who would have died without their help.

We cannot let these cats down now, after all they have endured and survived.
Your generosity can help us save 600 cats from suffering on the streets today!
We must leap into action to rebuild the sanctuary on the new property, preventing the cats from being condemned back to a life of misery and suffering on the streets. Any support you can give will bring us one step closer to saving the sanctuary and ensuring the survival of over 600 cats.
