Just one week after deadly flash floods tore through central Texas, more heavy rain and floods are pounding already-shattered communities, leaving even more stranded, injured and abandoned animals in their wake.
At least 132 lives have been claimed, and more than 100 people remain missing. Beloved pets were swept away in violent torrents, their lifeless bodies later pulled from floodwaters and riverbanks. The surviving animals are lost, wounded, terrified and alone – desperately waiting for families who may never return.

This past Sunday brought yet another wave of intense downpours, widespread destruction and more evacuations. While the new flood danger has suspended many official search and rescue efforts, our partners remain on the ground, ready to race to the rescue of helpless animals who have no-one else to turn to.

With our help, our partner, Austin Pets Alive! (APA!), has already taken in more than 500 surrendered animals from overcrowded shelters in flood-affected areas, and rescued over 100 displaced, lost and injured pets from the floodwaters.

APA! is now focusing on caring for the rescued animals, distributing emergency supplies and continuing to support shelters that are at critical capacity during this disaster. With so many animals in crisis, the team is desperate for funds to empower them to continue saving lives.
Thanks to your support, we also rushed emergency funds to Wings of Rescue, an organization that specializes in emergency relief and evacuation missions in disaster-struck areas. So far, they have flown more than 350 animals from overwhelmed shelters to safety in other parts of Texas and Utah, while delivering tons of food and emergency supplies to starving, injured animals.
They are standing by to continue their life-saving flights this week, but they can only fly if we can rush the support needed to keep their planes in the air.
