Despite almost 15,000 firefighters working around the clock to control the blaze, the Los Angeles wildfires are still raging, burning over 38,000 acres (around 15,380 hectares), claiming at least 24 human lives and leaving countless animals in crisis – and things are about to get worse.
Santa Ana winds – the same winds that whipped the fires into a frenzy last week – are about to return, along with dangerously low humidity. This deadly combination is likely to fuel even more destruction in the days to come, setting the county ablaze and putting thousands of people and animals at risk.
“There will be the potential… for explosive fire growth as those winds pick back up.” – Ariel Cohen, National Weather Service

Animals are trapped in this living nightmare – terrified, burned and gasping for air as the fire consumes everything in its path.
Dogs are running on charred, shredded paws, their cries lost in the roar of flames. Horses stand paralyzed with fear, unable to escape as the fire closes in. Tiny kittens and fragile wildlife are buried in smoke and ashes, desperately seeking refuge where there is none.
It is almost impossible to describe the horror of what these animals are enduring right now.
This isn’t just another wildfire. This is a battle for survival, and we need your help right away to save as many lives as possible.

Your donation today can make a life-saving difference:
- $25 (£30) will provide food and water to animals displaced by the flames.
- $50 (£40) will help rescue and treat a dog or cat suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.
These animals are counting on us to save them.

Every second is a matter of life or death.
At the time of writing, Pasadena Humane has provided life-saving emergency care for over 400 animals.
Imagine the fear of a smoke-choked kitten, her fur burned away, or the pain and terror of a dog cowering in the fiery ruins of what was once its home, covered in burns and barely clinging to life. Imagine what your donation could mean to them.

One of its recent rescues is a horribly injured cat found by firefighters in Altadena. This poor creature’s whiskers were completely burnt off and the fire had left him covered in wounds. Tragically, he can’t even walk because the burns on his paws are so bad – but thankfully, he is now safe at Pasadena Humane’s ICU, where he is receiving wound care, oxygen and much-needed pain medication.
There are hundreds more animals waiting to be saved, and Pasadena Humane needs funds to cover the extensive care these rescues so desperately need. With your help, we will save animal lives, even as the city burns around them.

Donate generously as soon as you can to save the lives of animals who are clinging to hope amid unimaginable chaos.
Thank you for being a true hero for animals in their darkest moments.
