Recent advances by the Russian military have caused an animal welfare crisis in Ukraine.

Soldiers are advancing in the Donetsk region, attacking and destroying one village at a time – and as people flee the onslaught, many are forced to leave their animals behind.

A major road provides a vital escape route for people and animals, but the Russians are trying to cut it off. We are doing our best to get abandoned animals to safety before it’s too late.

We must get the animals out of Donetsk before Russians destroy a crucial escape route, trapping them in the war zone.

Our partner’s shelter is at capacity, and these dogs have nowhere else to go.

As I write this, our teams are on the frontline of the war zone, rescuing dogs and other animal victims of war. Our partner, Pluriton, is working to get as many animals as possible to a temporary dog shelter near Kyiv, before the road is cut off.

And as if that wasn’t a big enough challenge, the shelter has run out of space. Pluriton is part-way through building an extension, but money has run out and construction on the vital enclosures has ground to a halt.

Every day that the shelters remain unfinished means another day of danger on the frontline for abandoned animals.

Without these crucial shelters, dogs on the frontline are doomed to a short life of suffering. We have promised to raise money to complete the extension, allowing more dogs to be rescued from the war zone – and with the help of animal-lovers like you, we know we can reach our fundraising goal.

Our partner has rescued over 1,000 dogs from the war.

Yet with every advance, the Russians create new waves of injured, abandoned dogs who need our help.

Since the war began, Pluriton has rescued more than 1,000 dogs from the frontline, providing food, shelter and care until they can find them forever homes in Europe and beyond.

The inroads being made by the Russians have created a new wave of refugee dogs, and there are very few places for them to go. For these helpless, injured dogs, our partner is an essential lifeline.

Injured, traumatized dogs often need intensive life-saving care.

Many of the animals are horrifically traumatized, and need dedicated medical care.

We fight for every dog’s life, including those who arrive so badly injured that vets shake their heads in despair – like Tresor, who was so badly wounded he lost a leg and had numerous internal injuries.

The vets told us to give up, but that’s just not what we do. After intensive effort, our team managed to nurse Tresor back to health.

With your help, we can continue saving the lives of dogs abandoned amidst the chaos of the war.

As more dogs are deserted on the frontline, our team is inundated with pleas for help from civilians and soldiers alike. But with the shelter at capacity, there’s nowhere for the dogs to go – until we can finish construction on the new enclosures, providing safe shelter for dogs rescued from the war zone.

For every enclosure we complete, we can save another defenseless animal from a nightmare of flying missiles, falling bombs and deadly shrapnel.

Dogs that aren’t killed outright are left to whimper and suffer alone in the rubble of their former homes. We MUST save as many dogs as we can, particularly from the Donetsk region where Russians are working to cut off crucial escape routes.
