The first month of 2026 showed just how powerful your support can be. Because of your generosityย in January, we rushed emergency aid to animals caught in deadly floods, delivered critical food and care as winter closed in and protected a shelter on the brink of collapse.
Here is the life-changing impact you made possible for animals last month.

Funding life-saving food, water and care for dogs with nowhere else to turn
Prishtina Dog Shelter has been a lifeline for street dogs in Kosovo, saving over 6,000 lives since it opened its doors in 2004. In January, this haven was in jeopardy. With only one functioning water well and skyrocketing food and veterinary costs, the shelter faced the unthinkable: being forced to turn needy dogs away.
Thanks to our supportersโ generosity, we funded the installation of a much-needed second water well and helped cover critical food and veterinary bills. This eased pressure on the shelter and empowered the team to continue rescuing dogs who would otherwise be left to suffer.

Rushing aid to animals when deadly floods destroyed their only shelter
In January, deadly floods tore through central Montenegro, devastating Pet-a-Tet, one of the countryโs few truly humane animal shelters. Against the odds, all 78 dogs and cats survived โ rescued by shelter staff, volunteers and emergency services who ferried the animals to safety by boat or kayak. But saving the animals was just the first step in addressing this crisis. Food and medical supplies were destroyed, kennels left unusable and electrical equipment ruined while the shelterโs rescue vehicle was left beyond repair.
Thanks to your compassion during this critical time, emergency funds were allocated to replace destroyed food supplies and purchase new electrical equipment to safely store vital vaccines and medications. Because of you, the shelter can begin to recover and the animals who call it home are not alone.

Kefalonia, Greeceย
Feeding and caring for hundreds of cats when seasonal kindness disappears
Every summer, tourists flock to the Greek island of Kefalonia, enjoying its beauty while incidentally helping to feed the hundreds of street cats on the island with leftover food. But when winter arrives, the visitors vanish and with them the catsโ lifeline.. We work to control the street cat population through our spay and neuter program and our team feeds and supports more than 400 cats each month in colonies across 14 villages.
Our supportersโ donations enabled us to purchase enough cat food to supply all 14 cat colonies for the month ahead. Thanks to you, the cats of Kefalonia are never truly abandoned and continue to receive food, sterilization and veterinary care, no matter the season.

Herut, Israelย
Providing emergency hay for rescued donkeys amid the driest winter in 100 years
In 2025, Israel experienced its driest winter in 100 years. Severe drought devastated agriculture, leaving hay dangerously scarce and when our partner, Starting Over Sanctuary (SOS), could find any, the cost was crippling. The 800 rescued donkeys were in immediate danger of going hungry.
Thanks to our supportersโ kindness, along with the help of several special major donors, we were able to fund an emergency stockpile of hay, ensuring SOS has enough food to keep its donkeys fed through the harsh winter weeks ahead.
