With help from our supporters, there are always wins for animals worth celebrating each month โ and March was no different. While so many animals still need our help, these moments show us what is possible when we turn compassion into action.
Hereโs the impact you made for animals around the world in March.
Appeals in Action
AFRICA
Lamu โ Kenyaย
Protecting street cats through vital vaccination and sterilization
Last month, we introduced our supporters to a street cat named Casandra. Our team encountered her during our most recent visit to Lamu, Kenya, as part of our vital trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) program. Casandra is still just a kitten herself, but without urgent action, she and countless other street cats like her in Lamu will continue the cycle of hunger, disease and suffering โ giving birth to litter after litter in harsh conditions.
Thanks to our supportersโ generosity โ and the extraordinary contribution of a very special major donor โ our partner, the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association (KESCAVA), will soon return to Lamu. Our team will vaccinate and sterilize an additional 500 street cats, breaking the cycle of suffering and giving the animals a chance at happier, healthier lives.

Cape Town โ South Africaย
Putting a lifeline animal ambulance back on the road
In March, tragedy struck our partner, Fallen Angels Pet Rescue, when its lifeline animal ambulance โ a vehicle we helped purchase โ was destroyed in a head-on collision while transporting seven puppies to an adoption event. Thankfully, no humans or animals were harmed, but the loss of the vehicle put thousands of vulnerable animals at risk.
Thanks to the compassion of our donors, we raised the funds needed to cover the insurance shortfall and replace the vehicle. The ambulance is now back on the road, ready to continue its life-saving work โ all thanks to you.

Mombasa โ Kenyaย
Moving 297 rescued animals to their new home
After more than 40 years of rescuing sick, injured and abandoned dogs and cats on Kenyaโs coast, our partner, the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (KSPCA) in Mombasa, faced eviction from its property and was initially given until the end of March to relocate its entire shelter. With only one small vehicle, moving all 297 rescued animals to their new sanctuary seemed impossible.
We are pleased to share that our partner received a last-minute extension until the end of April, providing valuable additional time to secure more kennel space and complete the cattery at a new shelter. Thanks to our supporters, we will be able to cover the full cost of hiring transportation for the relocation. So far, 85 dogs have completed the three-hour journey to their new home.
We look forward to sharing more updates as the move continues.

THE BALKANS
Trebinje โ Bosniaย
We are still trying to reach our goal to sterilize 60 street dogs
For decades in the Balkan countries, street dogs have been seen as a problem, not lives to be valued. Many shelters in the region are trapped in a devastating cycle of overcrowding, underfunding and poor conditions. Our modern dog shelter in Trebinje is changing that โ turning street dogs into pets through play, socialization and training programs. But uncontrolled breeding continues in the streets. Thatโs why we are focusing on a long-term solution: sterilizing 80% of the female stray and roaming dogs in and around the city.
We reached out to our supporters, but unfortunately, we have not yet reached our fundraising goal. We aim to sterilize 60 female street dogs โ which means 60 dogs made safer, hundreds of puppies never born into suffering and real, measurable progress toward lasting change. Please consider donating today if you want to be a part of this change.
