Stop the brutal cat slaughter in New Zealand now
Cats are being hunted and killed for sport in New Zealand. Join us in demanding an end to this barbarity.
Stand with Network for Animals against animal cruelty.
In rural North Canterbury, New Zealand, cats are about to become targets in a government-sanctioned hunting competition where killing earns cash prizes.
Between July 10 and 12 thousands of animals face organized cruelty, unless it is stopped. Families including children will be celebrating the mass slaughter as the blood covered bodies pile up.
Please sign this petition to urge the New Zealand government to ban cat hunts and protect children from taking part in cruelty to animals.

Urge New Zealand authorities to ban cat hunts and protect children from violence.

Each year, participants in the North Canterbury Hunting Competition compete to kill as many cats, and other targeted animals, as possible, using guns, traps and poison. With bounties offered per animal, the result is brutal mass killing that leaves many cats injured, suffering or dying alone in the bush. This is just one of many hunts organized each year in New Zealand.
Support the call to end cruelty disguised as conservation
Organizers applaud each death and claim the hunt protects native wildlife, but indiscriminate killing is not a humane or effective population control method. There are proven alternatives that reduce suffering while managing populations responsibly. Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programs offer a humane, science-based solution to managing feral cat populations. It prevents unnecessary killing and improves the welfare of both cats and native species, alongside planned ecosystem management.
Join the push for immediate intervention
Network for Animals has built coalitions with international and local partners, written to the New Zealand government demanding a review of the Predator Free 2050 strategy which aims to
eradicate feral cats, mobilized supporters and supported frontline rescuers such as Cat Rescue Christchurch. The New Zealand government has refused to answer us.
