In Arusha, Tanzania, countless homeless dogs roam the city, surviving on the food scraps they can scrounge on the streets they call home.

But the aching pain in their hungry tummies is not the only hardship they face…

If the animals get sick or injured, they die. If they miraculously recover without medical care, they continue to lead miserable lives of suffering. To add insult to injury, Arusha’s street dogs suffer sickening cruelty from heartless people who have no regard for animal lives. These dogs are often the victims of terrible neglect and abuse, run over by cars, poisoned or shot.

We urgently need to humanely reduce the street dogs population so that fewer dogs experience such suffering!

Our partner, the Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA), is dedicated to helping the region’s vulnerable animals. This small team of animal lovers responds immediately to animal welfare emergencies and runs weekly mobile clinics, using its limited funds to treat as many dogs as possible.

The ASPA team travels up to 186 miles (300 kilometers) EVERY DAY to reach animals in need.

With nowhere to properly examine sick and injured animals, ASPA’s veterinarian, Dr. Frank Alkado, treats animals on the cargo bed of ASPA’s vehicle. However, because of its extreme lack of resources, ASPA can often only sterilize a handful of dogs at a time.

It costs $26 (around £21) to sterilize a dog in Arusha. If we can raise $13,000 (roughly £10,700), ASPA can conduct a mass sterilization of 500 dogs in Arusha! This will prevent countless thousands of puppies being born into a world with no love, only suffering. Please, will you help us?

Spay and neuter programs also improve the health and wellbeing of the sterilized animals because they face less competition from other animals for food: in time, the population stabilizes.

With your help, we can make life so much better for dogs, who frankly, right now, live terrible lives.

When we visited Arusha, we were moved to tears by the number of emaciated, uncared-for dogs we saw struggling in dirt-poor areas…

When they aren’t rummaging through garbage for some semblance of a meal, the animals rest their frail, skeletal bodies on hard gravel and grit, shivering from cold and fear. Can you imagine being a street dog? How they must long for a moment when they don’t have to battle agonizing hunger, disease, and cruelty every single day.

Your support has already enabled us to provide ASPA with food, a new rescue vehicle and critical medical supplies to vaccinate dogs against rabies. You are helping us change the lives of animals who never before had the remotest hope. Will you stand with us as we continue to fight to give street dogs a better life?

For the animals,
