It’s no secret that COVID-19 has wreaked havoc for homeless animals around the world.
But in a remote corner of Thailand, street dogs are facing heartbreaking - and deteriorating - conditions. We urgently need your support today for an ambitious project that could literally save their precious lives, in the THOUSANDS!
As the months of the pandemic have unfolded in the desperately impoverished area around our partner, the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary, dogs living on the streets have suffered immensely.
Caught in the economic fallout of COVID restrictions, people are eating the scraps they used to leave for the dogs. Nearby shops have no stock because of lockdowns. Even the monasteries have been struggling to help the dogs!
Puppies are being born on the streets and in alleys. Dogs are being hit by cars and dying slow and painful deaths. Animals are starving.
Compounding the problem, are travel restrictions. Veterinarians can’t get to the sanctuary. The closest vet is a four-hour drive away.
Your donation today will help the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary launch one of the largest-ever spay/neuter and emergency surgery clinics the MOMENT it’s possible – as soon as a team of vets can enter the country and be mobilized - and help suffering strays!
As we mentioned, the project is bold and ambitious. But with the situation escalating rapidly, it is absolutely critical.
What the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary is planning is nothing less than a series of spay/neuter/surgery clinics - a massive “spay-a-thon” - at half a dozen or more sites throughout the Sangkhlaburi region, conducted over the course of four to six weeks.
They estimate they can provide spay/neuter AND emergency surgery services for 40 to 50 dogs and puppies A DAY at EACH location, helping 5,000 or more stray dogs!
AND, while the dogs are under anesthesia, each will be humanely ear-tipped, just like feral cats. They will also be vaccinated for rabies. The local people - more importantly, the local authorities - recognize what the ear-tip is and know the animal cannot breed, is safe, and will not harm them.
But the spay-a-thon can’t be readied without our help. We need you!
Your donation now will help the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary stock vital anesthesia for surgery... essential supplies like sutures and medicines... secure lodging agreements for visiting veterinarians... and make sure there are sites standing by.
You WILL save lives!
What’s more, you’ll save thousands of pups from being born into the streets. As we said, it’s one of the largest-ever projects of its kind. And it is absolutely vital.
It also goes without saying - repeating, emphasizing - that the Sangkhlaburi Animal Sanctuary will do everything in its power to provide care, sanctuary or foster homes for ANY dog or pup who comes to the clinics and is deemed to have no hope of surviving on the streets.
We know it’s a huge undertaking, but we promised to ALWAYS put the animals first, and these stray friends desperately need people like you they can count on.
Please help now if you can. We’ll report back to you the moment the clinics take place!
Thank you for believing that even unwanted stray dogs and puppies in a remote corner of Thailand deserve a chance at the very best lives possible.
You are truly a friend to animals... and to NFA.
For the animals,

P.S. Even though many, probably most, of these dogs have no “traditional” home, many do have neighborhoods where kindhearted men and women consider the dogs and pups “family”. In the current pandemic, they can’t afford to put enough food out - and certainly, they can’t afford spay/neuter, rabies vaccinations or ear-tipping. The sum impact of all of this for 5,000+ dogs and the community (plus some feeding stations until the pandemic passes) will be MASSIVE! But it will also be expensive - if you could add $5 or $10 to what you were planning to give today, your love will make an even BIGGER difference. Thank you so much, again!
