In February, your generosity supported emergency veterinary care for injured street dogs in South Africa, funded life-saving rescue missions for war victim animals in Ukraine and secured food and medical care for more than a thousand working donkeys in Tanzania for an entire year.
Read on for our success stories, updates and a very special campaign that needs your support to cross the finish line.
Our successful campaigns for animals in February 2025
Cape Town, South Africa
Provided life-saving surgeries for severely injured dogs in an impoverished township
Every day in the impoverished township of Khayelitsha in Cape Town, South Africa, vulnerable street dogs are hit by speeding cars, leaving them with horrific injuries. At Network for Animals, we believe no dog should go untreated or suffer alone, which is why we partner with Mdzananda, a small veterinary clinic dedicated to helping these abandoned and injured dogs.
Our supporters helped us cover the cost of life-saving surgeries for three dogs so far, healing fractured legs and giving the animals the chance to walk and run again. This kindness has made all the difference for these vulnerable animals.

Kharkiv, Ukraine
Funded a critical rescue mission for war victim dogs and cats
As Russian forces advanced in the Donbas region of Ukraine, thousands of animals were caught in the crossfire, with nowhere to hide. As civilians fled for their lives, abandoned dogs and cats faced starvation, disease and deadly airstrikes. We work with Animal Rescue Kharkiv (ARK) to save as many helpless animal victims as possible, no matter how dangerous the rescue missions.
Thanks to our supporters’ generosity in February, we funded a critical rescue mission that saved up to 50 dogs and cats from the horrors of war. We are committed to always being there for Ukraine’s animals, and together, we know we can continue this life-saving work.

Mirongoine, Tanzania
Secured food and medical care for 1,500 sick and starving donkeys for the next year
In the rural village of Mirongoine, Tanzania, over 1,500 working donkeys at a local market endure hard labor every week. After carrying heavy loads up to 10 miles (16km) to the market, they are not even given any food while they wait to make the long journey home. The animals are so starved that they resort to eating plastic waste, leading to a slow, agonizing death. Up to seven donkeys die this way each month. Together with our partner, the Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals (ASPA), we are working to bring these poor animals the care and relief they desperately need.
Thanks to our supporters, we’ve raised enough money to provide food and monthly mobile clinics for the donkeys in Mirongoine for the next year. Our supporters are making a real difference in places like Tanzania, where donkeys rarely receive the care and compassion they deserve.

There’s still time to make an impact – Help us cross the finish line!
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your kindness and support. It’s because of compassionate people like you that we’re able to change the lives of animals in desperate need. But sometimes, even with our best efforts, we don’t raise all the funds needed to fully carry out our mission on the first try.
Right now, there are animals still waiting for help – animals we simply cannot turn our backs on.
In Vrygrond, South Africa, a community struggling with extreme poverty, dogs and cats face hunger, illness and the constant threat of violence. Their owners love them deeply but can barely afford food for themselves, let alone the cost of veterinary care. Even when free pet clinics are available, many have no way to transport their animals there.

That’s why we helped develop a simple yet powerful solution: A pedal-powered pet taxi – a bicycle with a secure, comfortable enclosure to safely transport animals to the care they need. The first one is already on the road, and it’s making a difference. But we need five more to reach all the dogs and cats that need our help.
We’re just $10,000 away from making this a reality. That’s all it takes to ensure thousands of animals can receive life-saving care in the months ahead.
If you’re able, would you consider making a gift today? Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to helping these animals get the care they deserve.
Your kindness has already changed so many lives. Thank you for standing with us, for believing in a world where no animal is left behind, and for being the reason we can keep going, even when the road is tough.
For the animals,
